CAU Lima 2026: Dr. Vitagliano directs the international robotic surgery workshop

Lima, October 7, 2026. At the 45th Congress of the Confederación Americana de Urología (CAU), which brings the urological societies of Latin America and Spain together at the Lima Convention Center alongside the 35th Congress of the Peruvian Society of Urology, Dr. Gonzalo J. Vitagliano directed the Renal Robotic Surgery Simulation Workshop, a pre-congress hands-on course with robots and UROTRAINER models.
The format: three robotic platforms running in parallel throughout the day, in two sessions (9:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 17:00), in 45 to 50 minute blocks, with proctors coaching each participant at the console.
On high-fidelity UROTRAINER models, Dr. Vitagliano's own development for training in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, participants reproduce at the console the steps of a robotic partial nephrectomy: marsupialization of the cyst, resection of the tumor bed and suturing of the deep plane. The same models are used to train robotic radical prostatectomy.
Dr. Vitagliano designed the course and coordinates and directs it as director of the CAU and UROTRAINER workshop for the congress, with Dr. Nicanor Rodríguez as local coordinator. The activity continues the series of hands-on courses the Director has run with the CAU since 2021.
The videos accompanying this post were recorded by the Director himself during the workshop, with the three platforms in operation.
