Read testimonial → ” Good afternoon, I am Gabriel Suarez, a patient of Dr. Gonzalo Vitagliano, and I wanted to take this opportunity to express my enormous gratitude to him and his team, as well as to the Hospital Alemán, on the occasion of my procedure with the Rezūm technique for my diagnosis of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. I reached the decision to have the procedure after suffering serious daily difficulties because of the condition. Namely, a continuous and urgent need to urinate, reduced flow, getting up three or four times a night to urinate, a feeling of discomfort anywhere, and a full bladder. Everything I have described led to a serious daily discomfort and to not having a normal life. After several consultations with Dr. Gonzalo and his detailed explanation and reasoning for addressing the problem, among the surgical options he suggested the REZŪM Technique. After evaluating it carefully, and given that this technique is relatively new and minimally invasive, I decided to choose it. So on 1/5/23 I had the surgery at the Alemán and, simply not to tire you with the story, a year and a half later I can say that it radically changed my life for the better. It is impressive and perhaps hard to describe the advantages I had; I can only say that it is highly recommendable (though I understand a doctor should advise on each particular case). Finally, of course, the REZŪM comes together with the excellent professional who performed it, Dr. Vitagliano, whose professionalism, intellectual honesty and, above all, human quality truly changed my life for the better. Simply, many, many thanks, Doc. Gabriel Suarez, ID 18226.480

Truly incredible; the truth is it is a blessing to have this robotic surgery method and professionals so excellently trained to use it. The surgery and the postoperative period were excellent. He did not even feel he had been operated on. Ha ha. Honestly, I thank God for putting you in our path and for making this health problem the least traumatic possible and saving him, keeping us informed the whole time while he was in the operating room, before and after the surgery. The care at every moment, making sure we were calm and aware of what was happening during the surgery.

Read testimonial → ” When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and various doctors recommended I undergo surgery (radical prostatectomy), my greatest fears centered on the quality of life I would have after the operation. My fears were mainly about urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction. Dr. Vitagliano performed a robotic laparoscopy on me on a Friday afternoon. By Saturday morning I was already walking around the room, and on Sunday I was discharged and went home. Recovery from the surgery was very fast, without much pain, just some discomfort from the wounds that went away in a couple of days. After that, only the discomfort of the catheter, which was removed at 10 days. From that moment on, I could urinate without problems and never had any leaks. Thirty days after the surgery, I was able to have a full erection and sexual relations. Given how little time my recovery took, I am very happy to have made the decision to undergo a robotic laparoscopy with Dr. Vitagliano, an excellent professional with great warmth.

Read testimonial → ” My name is María Laura Castellani, daughter of Héctor Castellani, born in 1936. This year, at 86, he was diagnosed with a severe enlargement of the prostate that made it difficult for him to urinate. At one hospital they placed a catheter and told him nothing more could be done, that because of his advanced age he could not be operated on, and that the catheter would be for life. My father fell into a deep depression and, unable to bear the discomfort of the catheter, he decided to remove it. That is how his health became complicated and I grew desperate. I spent a whole afternoon searching the internet for alternatives, and that is how I found UMIBA and Dr. Gonzalo Juan Vitagliano, who attended to me from Mexico that same day, with a virtual consultation, reassuring me that surgery was indeed possible and with very little to almost no risk. That is how we learned about robotic surgery. We still had to convince my father, who refused to go to the doctor and, because of his age, would find it hard to understand that a robot and a doctor we did not know would save his life. After a few days, and after refusing Dr. Vitagliano's help, his health worsened and he agreed to go to the Hospital Alemán to see the doctor. And from there I can tell you that everything was magical, easy; Dr. Gonzalo Vitagliano and his whole team saw to it that this man, who no longer trusted any doctor and only wanted to die, returned to a full life. That day the doctor personally convinced him, reassuring him with his words, and managed to place the catheter to improve his condition and reach the surgery in good shape. The surgery was 3 days later, a complete success, and everything was very fast: two days in the hospital and 3 more days at home with the catheter; then it was removed, and today he is the same Héctor as always, on his bicycle doing his shopping and enjoying his plants, which had worried him so much while he was hospitalized, ha ha. Infinite thanks, Dr. Gonzalo Vitagliano and your whole team.

Read testimonial → ” «THANK YOU, DOC.» Two words, so few letters, that try to sum up what would be a book of anecdotes, from the first consultation 10 years ago to today's, which ended with that “You are discharged” and a smile that, I would say, even outshone mine. In between: the surgery, the follow-up, the check-ups, the tests… what for me, on leaving the office, was always “another 6 months”… the questions, and always there, your patience to answer them. To highlight your ability as a doctor: I believe no one who has been your patient could overlook or deny it… but beyond having placed my life in your hands, which seems like a lot but is true, all of us who receive the diagnosis with that word, CANCER, it is as if we hand over our life so they may cure us. For me, above all, beyond your skills, is the humanity you bring; I assure you it is not common currency. To your patients, “Ladies and Gentlemen,” the one who cares for us… the one who follows us does not only aim to tell us “You are discharged” after the process, and I assure you he does not lack ability, but to add that measure of humanity that is so hard to find in these frantic days. So I say goodbye until my next visit with a “THANK YOU, DOC.” A huge hug.

After many months of waking up no fewer than 5 times a night and of incipient incontinence, I decided to make an appointment and had the luck of ending up in the hands of Dr. Vitagliano. He explained that, given the size of my prostate, he would operate with the laparoscopic method. Everything he anticipated went well. I was admitted and operated on a Friday, and on Monday I was discharged without a catheter. The progress is day by day; the first day I urinated without a catheter and saw the flow I had, I could not believe it. I never had any pain or discomfort. Now I am in my 3rd week and everything is progressing perfectly; since the first week I drive and lead an almost normal life. I do not lift weight and must wait a few days to return to golf. I strongly recommend Dr. Vitagliano, whom I thank for his care. If in any doubt, make an appointment and go. Thank you, Doctor!

Before the surgery, my situation was being permanently ready to run to a bathroom to urinate, and once in position, making an effort of mental concentration to relax and be able to urinate, or looking for different positions to empty my bladder: sitting, with one leg raised, crouching, etc., etc.… Evidently, during sleeping hours this situation repeated itself over and over, reaching, on the worst days, intervals of only one hour of sleep before needing the trip to the bathroom.

Read testimonial → ” Hello, I am going to tell my experience regarding the prostate operation with a diagnosis of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. About 10 years ago I had already been advised to have surgery, because they saw my prostate growing year after year. To ease the situation while avoiding the operation, I took various pills that served my goal, which was not to be operated on. In the last two years I was already getting up 4 or 5 times a night, finding it quite hard to urinate. The situation became untenable in May of this year, when I felt a very strong urge to urinate, went to the bathroom, and barely passed a few drops. I spent two nights without sleep and self-prescribed “cystitis,” and began taking an antibiotic with the firm promise that as soon as I returned to Buenos Aires (Aeroparque), I would take the car and go to the Hospital Alemán. I arrived on a Saturday, kept my promise and went to the emergency room. A doctor, once aware of my ailment, gave me an order for an ultrasound (prostate, bladder, kidneys). When I returned to the office, she already had the result and asked me to stay while she went to find a specialist (urologist). When he arrived, he saw the study and said, “Come with me.” He had me lie down and told me, “We have to place a catheter, because your bladder is full and your kidneys are at risk.” Just like that, in 5 minutes I was draining through a catheter. As it was the weekend, they let me go with the catheter and gave me an appointment for Wednesday. Dr. Gonzalo Vitagliano's team was there, with him at the head. Once he saw the study, he told me surgery was needed “without fail,” and that I could choose another professional if I wanted. I had already looked into it, and he was precisely the one they recommended. I asked what kind of operation he would perform, and he said “laparoscopy,” not one word more. Until that moment, I thought the only options were laser and removing the prostate. He assured me that in a week I would be perfect and discharged in two. I immediately began the pre-surgical tests and was given an appointment for a week later; I was still with the catheter. The day of the operation arrived and I entered the operating room at about 6:00 p.m. on a Monday; I came out at 9:00 p.m. Needless to say, I felt absolutely nothing. The next morning I was already walking the halls, still with the catheter; on Wednesday I went home (with the catheter), and on Friday I had to go in to have the blessed catheter removed… Once it was out, I had to drink about 2 liters of water and wait for the moment of truth. Honestly, I could not imagine what it was like to urinate without any effort; it seemed I would never feel the urge, which was already a change, because before the operation, without a catheter, I felt the urge all day and never passed more than a trickle or… nothing. And the moment came: I went to the bathroom and a stream really came out that I thought belonged to someone else. I could not believe it; it was impressive. And from then on my way of life changed: I go to meetings without worrying, I drive 500 km without going to the bathroom. In a word, talk to Vitagliano and fix your life….

Read testimonial → ” Dear Dr. VITAGLIANO, about a year ago I was diagnosed with bilateral kidney cancer. I came to the Hospital Alemán on a friend's suggestion, and there they referred me to you. The outlook was to undergo conventional surgery and the possibility of losing the right kidney and part of the left, which meant I was close to needing dialysis in the near future. Life, which was always kind to me, allowed me to go through it without any major surgery until the age of 66. When I was diagnosed with cancer, I felt for the first time the finitude that human beings know but dare to bear. Your double surgery through the uro-laparoscopic procedure means that today I keep both my kidneys, without significant scars on my body and feeling spiritually supported, being in the hands of a professional who knows and loves his science. Read testimonial → ” Dear Jesica and Gonzalo: I am sending you these lines of thanks for you to share on the website. I had a laparoscopic partial nephrectomy, and this is my personal experience. «The operation went exactly as described. Without any pain. Recovery is very fast. The bladder catheter, which was one of my greatest fears, is placed during the surgery, taking advantage of the anesthesia, and at 24 hours it is removed with a slight discomfort, nothing more than that. In general, the feeling after the operation is that of having done a great many sit-ups, but I never suffered pain, only that discomfort. The first 24 hours pass quickly, since during the first 12 hours one sleeps a lot, and after that, with the nurses' help, one begins to sit up and, progressively, to walk. The diet is liquid at first, and little by little one begins to eat semi-solid foods. At 48 hours I was already home. The abdominal discomfort disappears over the days and is bearable. To sleep, the first two or three days I felt better on my back, but then I began to sleep normally. Within a week I was already driving and went on a trip to the coast. From then on, a normal life, always respecting the instruction not to lift more than 5 kg for a month. A thousand thanks to Dr. Gonzalo Vitagliano and the team of professionals who accompany him, both at the Hospital Alemán and at his private office, for always making me feel informed, safe and supported in the face of all the questions and doubts that came up. One hundred percent recommended.» Regards to you both, and see you at the next check-up.

The surgery was on a Friday at dusk, and he had promised me that over the weekend he would not abandon me and would come to see me. And so he did: on Saturday he was at the hospital, visiting and monitoring my progress. I have only words of gratitude for him and his team… the surgical assistant Dr. Mauro Mieggi; the anesthesiologist Dr. Jeannes, who came especially on a day when he does not usually come to the hospital, to assist in the surgery; the scrub nurse; his secretary Jessica at the office; the people who cared for me during my stay, especially Adrián Lanza from the Nursing department, unforgettable… in short… each and every one. Without a doubt, placing oneself in the hands of Dr. GONZALO VITAGLIANO is something comparable to being able to let go of the reins and surrender, with safety and calm, to the great ability and professional skill he has shown at every moment. That is how it was: from the first consultation, he was absolutely clear, concise and sincere. Always entirely correct and showing deep knowledge and very vast experience in his work. On top of all that, having his support and human warmth in very difficult moments is a plus that means a great deal to a patient in those situations that life, unfortunately, sometimes puts us through. I can say that I felt I was operated on by a lifelong FRIEND. I absolutely recommend him to anyone who finds themselves needing to look for a surgeon in the urological field with broad oncological knowledge, and who would also always try to preserve kidney function as much as possible, as in my case, where he was able to save a large part of my kidney.
