Holmium laser enucleation is a reference surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia, especially in large prostates. It is progressively replacing traditional open surgery, with less bleeding and a shorter hospital stay.

The institutional technique of the procedure.
The technique enucleates the adenoma from the capsular plane with a holmium laser, followed by intravesical morcellation. The center has the UROTRAINER simulation program for training in this technique.


Recovery, step by step.
The urinary catheter stays for one or two days and the hospital stay is short. Symptom improvement is usually rapid.
How this procedure is covered.
Direct in-network care is with the Hospital Alemán Medical Plan (PMHA). With the other health insurers (obras sociales) and prepaid plans, care is on a reimbursement basis. For private care, fees are stated transparently at the consultation.
