Peno-scrotal surgery
Peno-scrotal surgery brings together a set of reconstructive, functional and aesthetic procedures on the penis, the scrotum and the urethra. Its aim is to correct congenital anomalies, treat the aftermath of trauma or disease, and improve the patient's comfort and quality of life. It ranges from scrotal surgery, such as varicocele repair (varicocelectomy), treatment of hydrocele (hydrocelectomy), scrotoplasty and procedures on the testicles, to penile and urethral procedures, among them repair of the peno-scrotal web, reconstruction of the urethra (urethroplasty) and the placement of prostheses and sphincters to treat erectile dysfunction or incontinence. In each case the surgical team is formed according to the complexity of the procedure: for the placement of penile prostheses and artificial urinary sphincters, UMIBA has associated specialists dedicated to these techniques. The surgical plan is defined at the consultation, individually, according to each patient's diagnosis and goals.
