The endoscopic approach covers the spectrum of urinary stone disease: ureteroscopy for ureteral stones, flexible ureterorenoscopy for kidney stones and percutaneous nephrolithotomy for larger stones. The technique is selected case by case.

When this procedure is indicated.
Each indication is confirmed with clinical evaluation, imaging and, when applicable, biopsy. The final decision is made through joint evaluation by the team.
- Symptomatic or significantly sized kidney stones
- Ureteral stones that cannot pass or are symptomatic
- Recurrent stone disease with complementary metabolic work-up

Depending on the case, flexible ureteroscopy with laser or small-caliber percutaneous access is used. The choice is defined at the consultation.


Recovery, step by step.
A double-J stent may be placed for a few days. Imaging follow-up and metabolic monitoring are scheduled according to the case.
How this procedure is covered.
Direct in-network care is with the Hospital Alemán Medical Plan (PMHA). With the other health insurers (obras sociales) and prepaid plans, care is on a reimbursement basis. For private care, fees are stated transparently at the consultation.
